Hero Turn 3
With their first battle won, the heroes in the South who had fought the mill combat, led by the blind Augur Laonike, the Bretonnian Questing Knight Barnard, and the Saurus Champion Mo, ran towards Skag’s archers on the hill. A group of Goblin spearmen appeared in a small ruin beside the hill, threatening to hit the heroes in the flank if they ignored them in favor of Skag’s deadly missile forces.
The battle of the large ruin in the southeast continued, with Mother Ilone blasting Goblins with her Soulfire spell again. Four Goblins were hit, but none wounded! Similarly, the Skink Priestess from her perch in a nearby building failed to would a Goblin spearman with her Lightning Bolt. A Tilean Crossbowman, contracted to the Lizardmen and firing from beside the Skink Priestess, managed to hit one of the Goblin archers remaining on the balcony of the Ruin, and dropped him stunned to the ground. This particular Goblin had been lucky up to that point, having been shot at by the group providing covering fire eight or nine times without having been injured!
The rest of the archers providing covering fire realized that they could see some of the Orc command group in the large stone farmhouse in the center of town. Undisturbed up to this point, these bosses were still searching for the hidden loot. An Elf Ranger hired by the Bretonnians, two Bret archers, and several Skinks fired shots at this group. No damage was done except for one of the Elf Ranger’s shafts, which bounced of the big bosses armor.
Inside the ruin, Sister Isilde hammered a Goblin into pulp, while the Bretonnian champion Guillame, still at the entrance to the ruin, took the poor stunned Goblin out of action with his two-handed sword.
On the hill in the South, Sister Rowanne took an Orc warrior out of action, while the last Orc warrior from the toll house group was taken out by Sister Amber. Skag himself had not yet been engaged, and would be free to shoot again with his poisoned quarrels next turn.
In the North, the Adventurers would make their rout check and mostly finish up the remaining Orcs on the slope facing them. The Adventurer hero Da New Boy took one Orc out of action and stunned another. The Wizard teleported into a building at the edge of town, surprised an Orc archer by whacking him on the head with his staff and stunning him.
The Dwarf / Black Orc fight continued, with the centerpiece battle of the Kroxigor and Rokkurg resulting in yet another stalemate round with misses on both sides. The Dwarf Adventurer took another stunned Black Orc out of action (he was racking up on stunned and knocked down models), while Kinslayer of the Dwarves took another Black Orc out of action. Barfgutz knocked a Dwarf henchman down and roared his defiance.
Orc Turn 3
The command group in the center got a low roll for it’s loot search, and it appeared they may be hunting for several more turns before being able to make their break.
During the shooting phase, no damage was done except by Skag, who put a poisoned quarrel into a Bretonnian henchmen and taking him out, forcing the Brets into route-check territory. In the melee near the hill held by Skag’s group, the Augur intercepted a charging Goblin, which knocked her down twice. Laonike had the Jump Up skill, however, and was not harmed. Sister Ebony nearby was not so evasive, receiving a charge from no less than five Goblins and being taken out of action. The Sisters were now the third of the hero warbands having to make route checks.
The battle inside the large ruin in the South continued, with reinforcing Goblin spearmen and Orc warriors charging into the Sisters in the building and their friends on both sides of the ruin. Sister Isilde cut down a Goblin spearman, while the completely surrounded Mother Ilone knocked one Goblin down. Sister Ivory would fall to three charging Orc warriors however, the second Sister taken out of action this turn. A Saurus henchman coming arount the side of the building to aid the Sisters was stunned by a charging Orc warrior as well.
In the North, Lars Brightaxe finally defeated Barfgutz, who fell at the Dwarf’s feet with an axe through his thick green skull! The struggle between the Kroxigor and Rokkurg continued with neither harming the other, and surrounding heroes began to grumble about interfering in this combat or it might take all day.
At the base of the mountain slope, the Adventurers who had finally reached the base of the slope were charged by Orc spearmen coming from the town. The Barbarian received a wound from one of the spearmen, but took the spearman out of action in retuan, and an Adventurer henchman was stunned. Two Orc spearmen took another Adventurer henchman out of action, stabbing him repeatedly. Perhaps the Adventurer’s would break next turn! Just in case, the Adventurer wizard got in one last blow by taking out the now knocked down Orc archer he’d surprised last turn.
